The Danna K. Johnston Foundation empowers youth from diverse socio-economic backgrounds to become successful in high school and beyond.  We apply a hands-on approach in working with youth to emphasize education and positive lifestyle choices.

3/8/2012: DKJF is proud to announce we are now a Qualified Organization through the City of Seattle's Families & Education Levy. The Levy will provide funding for Qualified Organizations to partner with schools in order to improve student
outcomes. Please visit

11/8/2011:  The Danna K. Johnston Foundation today announced that it has received a van secured by King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn through King County’s annual Retired Van Donation Program.


“This van will be a great tool for us to help support high school students across the city as they continue to strive to improve academically,”
said Howard McAuliffe, Executive Director of the Danna K. Johnston Foundation during the presentation of the van at Rainer Beach High School.


Since 1995, the County Council has been donating retired vans from Metro’s Vanpool program to local nonprofit organizations to provide transportation for the disabled, low-income, young adults, and senior citizens.


Since then, the King County Council has distributed more than 260 retired vans to various non-profit organizations. After eight years in the King County Fleet Division, the vans are retired and prepared for donation.


The donated van will be used primarily for the purposes of transporting students that participate in the Foundations signature program – “Successful Youth”.


10/30/2011: The Danna K .Johnston Foundation is excited to announce that Dr. Bruce Montgomery, CEO of Cardeas Pharma will provide a keynote address at our 2012 Dinner Gala and Auction. Dr. Montgomery has been involved in the creation of 6 drugs which are on the market today including Tobramycin which has literally saved the lives of hundreds of thousands of children.

5/22/2011: Seattle University selects Danna K. Johnston as a finalist for the
Red Winged Leadership Award.  The Red Winged Leadership Award honors "leaders committed to embracing the unique intersection where leadership, business acumen and social impact overlap" according to Seattle University's website. 

1/15/2011: The Danna K. Johnston Foundation is the proud recipient of a Full Service Community Schools (FSCS) grant - awarded to four community-based organizations that support Rainier Beach High School in its mission to help young people succeed.  Click here to read more...
