Meredith Hutchins
Meredith Wright Hutchins grew up in Seattle and graduated from Roosevelt High School. Meredith’s father was a judge on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and her uncle, grandfather and brother were also lawyers. Her family told her that law was not a suitable career for a woman so instead, she got married and had a child. Then, because she could, she finished college and entered and graduated from law school. This is one reason why Meredith thinks that Successful Youth Inc. is so very important. It encourages young people to be ALL that they can be.

Meredith spent many years as an assistant attorney general and senior counsel with the Office of the Attorney General in Olympia representing such diverse clients as the Department of Labor & Industries; Energy Facility Siting Evaluation Council; Washington State Lottery; Liquor Control Board; Office of State Procurement and the Washington Horse Racing Commission. For the past eight years she has been in private practice in Olympia.

Meredith has served on many boards including: POSSCA; Governmental Lawyers Bar; Washington Center for the Performing Arts; Thurston County Volunteer Legal Services; and, Board of Bar Examiners. She is an elected Thurston County Fire Commissioner. She adores musical theater and is currently on the 5th Avenue Theater Gala Committee. Meredith and her husband Jim live in Olympia with their three Maine Coon cats [and one alley cat] and a large koi pond. The cats are not allowed to fish in the koi pond.
